You know what gets a lot of attention online? Topics that trend up, like the hash tags in twitter. If a topic is newsy, it's there and it trends. Keywords for that topic build in Google's Adwords and Adsense and everyone who is anyone is talking about it. This all means that there is money to made for those whose blog or website has something to do with the topic.

Please read that again... your credibility as a blogger or webmaster means that you will only use topics like these when they really mean something to your visitors. Staying true to your readers is your bread and butter.

But, if a news topic does have something to do with your blog or site, you would be remiss if you didn't write about it. When you do, be sure to get the word out through your newsletter, comments on other blogs, pings and listings in the search engines.
